DUI Attorney for Over 50 Years

Joe VanDervoort was a legend in the DUI courts in and around Butte County for over 52 years. He
authored numerous treatises and hand books which were used by future lawyers studying to pass the
State Bar. Dozens of lawyers got their start working for him and learning from him. He handled over
25,000 cases. And he was active in the Chico community as Exalted Ruler of B.P.O.E., Chamber of
Commerce President, and President of the Planning Commission.

Joe retired from practicing law in 2024 but he is still active as the DMV Hearing Specialist at North Valley
Attorneys. He can still be found in his office, telling stories and entertaining visitors, when he is not
taking time off to go fishing.
